Two people are pocketing nearly $3,500 apiece for their ability to predict when the ice went out on the Kuskokwim River.

Reports say Harry Pavilla and Alvin Jimmie are the winners of this year's Kuskokwim Ice Classic.

They both predicted that the tripod on the river would go out at 5 p.m., May 2, splitting the $6,927 jackpot.

The ice classic is a fundraiser for Bethel Regional High School, which will get about $6,400 from ticket sales.

This year's beneficiaries are Special Olympics and Native Youth Olympics.
