A Fairbanks day care center with a capacity for 51 children closed down voluntarily for two days last week after a visit from state inspectors.

Lisa Smart of the state's Child Care Licensing program says operators of Enep'ut Children's Center closed to address points of noncompliance.

Reports say a complaint filed with the program's northern office prompted the visit by the state agency. Smart says inspectors had a discussion with operators.

She says her office can't release specifics until investigators release their report. The day care operator will have a chance to respond at a hearing on agency findings before the report is released.

Staff and board members at the day care did not respond Monday to requests for comment.
