ANCHORAGE- A fishing boat carrying two crew members overturned in heavy swells near the Kenai River mouth but both men are safe with help from rescue boats.
People in Beluga Lookout Lodge on Wednesday night saw the fishing vessel Six turn over.
Private skiffs and crews from the Kenai and Nikiski fire departments rushed to the overturned boat.
Kenai Fire Department fire marshal Eric Wilcox says the crewmen were picked up and checked out at Central Peninsula Hospital.
Crewmen Allan Baldwin says by email that the boat took water over the bow and a following wave pushed the boat on its side.
He says he knew help was coming when he saw red lights on the bluff and beach.
The vessel remains partially submerged near Chinulna Point.
