Districts getting digital learning grants
Four school districts will receive state grants as part of an initiative to provide high-quality distance courses and more class offerings.
The recipients are all partnering with other districts. The grants are to provide funding for three years.
The department of education says the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will receive about $820,000 for such things as offering more distance-delivered math, science and advanced placement courses.
Copper River School District will receive about $650,000 for expansion of dual-credit coursework and other courses needed for students to be eligible for state-funded post-secondary scholarships.
Kodiak Island Borough School District will receive about $890,000 for things like increasing student performance in areas like science, math, technology and engineering.
Ketchikan Borough School District will receive nearly $840,000 to provide an online portal to courses.
