Even by Ketchikan standards, Sunday was one rainy day.

Reports say the city set a record with 5.45 inches rain on Sunday. The National Weather Service says that's the rainiest June day ever.

The previous record was 4.96 inches of rain, recorded on June 1, 1970.

As of Sunday, 71.73 inches of precipitation has fallen so far this year in Ketchikan.

Weather officials say that's well ahead of a normal year, which would see 61 inches of precipitation by the end of June.
