ExxonMobil's production manager says fieldwork at the Point Thomson petroleum field is going well and Alaska's current healthy environment for investment is a reason to vote against repeal of an oil tax measure passed in 2013.

Karen Hagedorn told the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday that tying Point Thomson into the greater North Slope pipeline network was a milestone for the company.

She says the 22-mile, 12-inch line ties into the Badami pipeline. Reports say the company plans to have Point Thomson in production in 2016.

In her pitch for keeping the oil tax measure passed last year, Hagedorn says the prior oil tax structure was overcomplicated and burdensome at higher oil prices.
