Anchorage police say a man nearly drowned in Lake Hood on Saturday morning and they're asking for help in identifying him.

Police say the man is in his mid- to late-20s. He has a buzz haircut and what appears to be a surgical scar on his chest.

Police say he is a heavy-set Alaska Native who was clean-shaven and wearing a dark T-shirt and dark shorts.

Police just before 10 a.m. Saturday received a report of a man struggling in the water near Wisconsin Street and Lakeshore Drive.

Police and fire department responders pulled the man out. He was resuscitated at a hospital but remains unconscious and in critical condition.
