ANCHORAGE- House Democrats intend to use results of a new legislative study to push for increased education spending to districts.
The report shows Alaska's largest school districts have lost 600 teaching and support positions in the last three years.
Anchorage has lost about 95 teachers and counselors. Overall, other positions cut, like central office teacher experts, total 285 in Anchorage.
In the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, nearly 53 classroom teachers have been cut. For the Fairbanks North Star Borough, the number is 36 teachers, 28 in Juneau and 36 in the Kodiak Island Borough.
