Session on confirmations pushed back
The Legislature has pushed to April 17 a joint session to consider confirmation of appointments.
The confirmation of gubernatorial appointees had been scheduled for this coming Friday.
The change will allow more time for consideration of a bill that would allow for out-of-state residents to serve on the board of directors of the Alaska Gasline Development Corp., or AGDC.
Gov. Sean Parnell appointed a Texas man and former pipeline company executive to serve on the board. Parnell has defended the appointment as within his discretion under the state constitution but critics say it's at odds with state law requiring Alaska residents serve on boards and commissions.
The sponsors of the bill establishing AGDC have said their entire was to ensure the best, most qualified members are appointed to the board.
