ANCHORAGE - A man is indicted following an investigation involving a teenage girl, and a popular social media application.

37 year old Troy Julsen is indicted on 9 counts related to the online solicitation, unlawful exploitation and sexual abuse of a minor.

Anchorage police say Eagle River parents alerted APD when they noticed a change in their 14 year old daughters behavior. Reports say the teen and Troy Julsen allegedly struck up a relationship over a popular social media app called Whisper.

The app allows you to search geographically for other users. Once Julsen made contact with the teen police say they began to send each other text messages.

The case was investigated for several months by APD's cyber crimes unit. The team searched digital data from Julsen and revealed that the used the app to locate a number of girls in the local area.

APD says this is the first case they have seen involving the app Whisper.

According to police Julsen contacted a number of girls and the communication lead to either sexting or meeting in person for sexual contact.

Now they are concerned there could potentially be more victims. Those with any information are asked to contact police.
