ANCHORAGE- The state has dropped a manslaughter count against a man charged in the heroin overdose of a teenage girl, and will instead let a federal case proceed against Sean Warner.

Warner remains charged with co-defendant Max Jewett in federal court with heroin distribution resulting in death and other charges in the December 2011 death of 14-year-old Jean Dolstad.
Warner's attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
State court papers said Warner was sharing heroin with two men at his Anchorage home when the girl said she was willing to try something "new" but didn't want to inject herself. Prosecutors alleged Warner, a former Navy corpsman, injected the drug. She died six days later.
A conviction in federal court carries a more several sentence.
