Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Mead Treadwell says he put a lot of his own money into his campaign to give supporters and staff confidence that overhead costs will be covered through the August primary.

Treadwell said the plan is for every dollar raised going forward to go toward messaging. He said he has a good statewide organization and feels good about taking his case to voters.

Treadwell reorganized his campaign during the last quarter. He said you can't run against Washington spending more money than it has without minding your own house.

His last disclosure report showed he'd lent his campaign $175,500 during that period and $225,500 for the cycle so far.

Both he and Joe Miller lagged behind their fellow Republican rival Dan Sullivan in fundraising to date.
