Championship Sports Block Busy day in Alaska sports, two region champions were crowned, and Saturday's ASAA State Soccer Championship games were set up. Congratulations to the Service Cougars, 2013 CIC baseball champions, after defeating West 3-0 at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage. Johnny Meszaros struck out 17 batters to complete the game, as Service locked up top seed in the ASAA State Baseball Tournament. South owns the other state birth, after defeating Chugiak 7-5. East defeated West 6-1, winning the Cook Inlet Conference softball crown. Sydney Smith had four K's for the Thunderbirds, two of which came in the 4th inning when West was threatening. ASAA State Soccer Finals are set, South boys will meet unbeaten Northern Light Conference champs Colony, and Service girls take on unbeaten CIC champions Dimond. The girls title game kicks off at 3:15p, the boys battle at 5:45. Championship games take place at Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium, Chugiak High School. Sports Headlines
