2A Regional Tournament Results (Day 1)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--While all Anchorage area high school basketball teams will have to wait another 5 days before they can take to the court for their respective regional tournaments, 2A schools took their first step toward a state title.

FINAL (boys): Nanwalek Eagles 53, Kodiak ESS 36

Kodiak ESS (Emerging Small Schools), is a team comprised of co-ed players from four different Kodiak Island villages. The team is making their first appearance at the Peninsula Conference tournament.

The Eagles used a balanced offensive attack led by John Romanoff's 18 points, and Antone Ukatish's 11 points.

FINAL (boys): Cook Inlet Academy 52, Ninilchik 34

FINAL (girls): Birchwood Christian 29, Ninilchik 26

Birchwood's Katelynn Becker tallied 11 points in the three point win. Birchwood came back from being down at halftime to push past Ninilchik 29-26.

FINAL (girls): Lumen Christi 54, Wasilla Lake Christian 15

FINAL (girls): Cook Inlet Academy 63, Seldovia 3

FINAL (boys): Lumen Christi 68, Wasilla Lake Christian 50

FINAL (boys): Nikolaevsk 70, Seldovia 56
