Dolores Ann Grant, 60, died July 20, 2007, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Assisted Living Facility.
A service was held Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. The Rev. Eric Wiseman officiated. A celebration of her life was held afterward at American Legion Post 1, 840 W. Fireweed Lane.
Mrs. Grant was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Holy Cross, to Walter and Ann Whitley. She was a homemaker and volunteered as a secretary with the VFW Auxiliary and as treasurer with the American Legion Auxiliary in Valdez.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, knitting, coin collecting, cooking and reading.
"She was a very good listener, was friendly, outgoing, had an infectious smile and was loved by all family and friends," her family wrote.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Grant Sr. of Anchorage; son, James R. Grant Jr., serving in the U.S. Air Force; daughter, Kimberly A. Datta of Anchorage; granddaughters, Melissa K. Datta and Roxanne C. Datta of Valdez; brothers, Raymond K. Whitley, Walter Whitley Jr., Steven J. Whitley Sr., and David W. Whitley, all of Anchorage; and sisters, Mary E. Hale of Springfield, Mass., Kathleen A. Rickey of Bethany, Mo., Julia M. Demientieff of Holy Cross and Sandra L. Roesing of Kasilof.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and Lyle; and sisters, Christine, Theresa and Joan.
