Aces Defenseman Kane Lafranchise Called Up to AHL Team

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--A life-long Alaska Aces member is finally getting his shot at taking his play to the next level.

Alaska Aces defenseman Kane Lafranchise has been called up to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, according to Aces Head Coach Rob Murray.

Lafranchise will play three road games with the Barons this weekend.

He's spent all 131 regular and postseason games with the ECHL Alaska Aces, and this weekend will mark his debut in the AHL.

Last year, Lafranchise finished second among Alaska defenseman in scoring with 34 points (3 goals, 31 assists). Currently, Lafranchise is tied for sixth in scoring int he ECHL, among defenseman.

Lafranchise also spent time before coming to the Alaska Aces as a member of the University of Alaska-Anchorage hockey team. There, he notched 33 points (9 goals, 24 assists) in 97 career games.

Last season, Lafranchise was recognized by the Hockey News as the winner of the worldwide hockey "Name of the year" tournament for 2012.
