Alaska Aces Sign Defenseman Chris Haltigin, Hockey Tonight!
The Alaska Aces and rookie defenseman Chris Haltigin came to an agreement, while the @AlaskaAces released defenseman Danny Markowitz. Coach Rob Murray made the announcement as Alaska gets set for their home opener against the 2-0 Utah Grizzlies, 7:15p, Sullivan Arena.
Chris Haltigin @CHaltigin24 is a 24 year old Oakville, Ontario native, who rocked 73 points (24 goals, 49 assists) in 147 games during a 4 year collegiate career at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The 6'11", 205 lbs. biomedical sciences major, guided RIT to an AHA title and berth in the Frozen Four, named to the NCAA East Regional All-Tournament Team that year as a sophomore. Haltigin's college career saw the captain finish as all time leader in RIT games played, second all-time among defensemen in RIT goals scored, and third in points. @CHaltigin24 was a finalist for the Lowes Senior Class Award and was named RIT's best defenseman.
Defenseman Danny Markowitz joined the Aces last season, tallying 1 goal, 3 assists, and 4 points in 47 games played. This season, Markowitz was on the opening day roster, but did't play in Colorado during the season opening series.
The Aces home opener is at Sullivan Arena tonight, , October 19 and home-opening weekend continues on Saturday, October 20 to host the Utah Grizzlies in their first home games of the 2012-2013 season. Tickets are currently on sale for both games.
