CIC Volleyball Regions and Prep Hockey

Tuesday, November 5th marked a huge night in Alaska sports.  The Region IV Volleyball tournament kicked off at Service High School, and the puck dropped on the 2013-14 prep hockey season.

Dimond, Chugiak, and South all moved on in the winners bracket of the Region IV Volleyball Tournament, not huge surprises as all were higher seeds.  They'll be joined by the winner of tomorrow night's #3 West versus #6 East match. The loser links up with Eagle River, Service, and Bartlett in the bottom bracket.  Regions is a double elimination tournament that concludes Saturday at 6pm, with one more match scheduled for 8pm if needed.

In prep hockey tonight, Chugiak opens the season with a 10-1 win over Bartlett.  Tayler Garner racked a hat-trick with 1 assist.  Kris Tomazevic tallied twice with 2 helpers for the Mustangs.  Joel Johnson scored the lone Bartlett goal with 4 seconds to play in period 1.  Malakye Felix stopped 45 of 55 shots for the Golden-Bears.
