Conference Baseball Pairings Locked; East Softball Perfect
ANCHORAGE, Alaska--The Dimond High baseball team entered into Monday's contest with a chip on their shoulder. At stake--an opportunity to play in the four-team championship bracket for the Cook Inlet Conference tournament.
The Lynx would get off to a hot start off the bat of Sheldon Rouzan. He'd take a 1-0 pitch to right field, and would score Jordan Clevenger from second-base in the bottom of the first.
While the Wolves of Eagle River have already been ousted from this year's championship pool, the team could play the role of spoilers with a win against the Lynx. However, another run coming in the bottom of the fifth for the Lynx would be more than enough to push past the Wolves.
FINAL (Baseball): Dimond 2, Eagle River 0
In the night-cap baseball game--Chugiak and West weren't only playing to solidify their standings in the championship pool (2 and 3 ranks, respectively), but the winner would determine who has an opportunity to play in the regional tournament inside the championship bracket.
With West Anchorage's 9-4 win over Chugiak, the South High Wolverines would advance with the number four ranking.
FINAL (softball): West Anchorage 9, Chugiak 4
Baseball Final Standings
To softball, where chasing perfection is an opportunity not easily afforded at any level of competitive sports. The East High Thunderbirds could attain a perfect season with a win against Service on Monday night.
Taria Page would do all she could to help her team, just as she's done all season. Page helped boost the Thunderbirds out to an 8-0 lead in the top of the fourth with a shot to right field. That would score in a run, as the Thunderbirds boost to 18-0 (11-0 in CIC play) on the season with a 10-1 victory.
FINAL (softball): East 10, Service 1
