ANCHORAGE, Alaska--Wednesday night, it was Scott Gomez. Friday night, Alaska Aces fans can thank Kane Lafranchise.

Lafranchise secured the Aces fifth victory in a row with an overtime goal, winning 5-4.

By the end of this hockey season, Alaska Aces fans may not have any more fingernails to chew.

The Aces (9-4) are two points behind the Idaho Steelheads in the Mountain Division of the ECHL Western Conference.

Friday's game marked the 18th consecutive year for "Military Appreciation Weekend". The Aces sported new patriotic themed jerseys which will be acutioned off to fans after Saturday's home finale.

Zach Harrison put the Aces on the board in the second period, but the kick the team needed was found in Nate Thompson. Thompson added two goals to tie the game at 3, in the third period.

ECHL goal leader Michael Forney would put the Eagles back up in the third with his 11th goal on the season. That goal came while the Eagles were on the power-play.

Joey Crabb answered less than a minute later in the high scoring third period, and that would send the game into overtime.

The Aces close out their home-stand on Saturday night at 7:15pm tomorrow before heading off to play the number-one ranked Idaho Steelheads.
