Mt. Marathon 2013
Mt. Marathon runners are a hardy breed, and this year shows some record breakers!
The Mount Marathon race started as a bet between two locals in 1908. After it's first formally organized race on 1915, the race has since become a state gem of a tradition.
Some celebrate our Independence day with fireworks, others make the fireworks happen, as happened with this year's race winner, Eric Strabel.
Coming in at 42 minutes and 55 seconds, Strabel shattered the previously standing record, set over 30 years ago in 1981 by Bill Spencer, a record some thought was unbreakable.
Listed are the winners in the Men's, Women's, and Junior division:
A big congratulations to this year's winners, and a great high five to all the participants of the 2013 Moutn Marathon Race from all of here at Your Alaska Link!
