Dimond-West to Meet Service-East in Girls Hockey FinalsANCHORAGE, Alaska--The concept is as simple as they come. Four teams enter a tournament and only two make it to the championship. Wednesday night provided the answer for who those two teams would be in Cook Inlet Conference girls hockey. Final: Dimond-West 10, Chugiak-Eagle River 0 Dimond-West jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period due in part to a two-goal performance from Brandi Muller. But the pistons were firing on all cylinders in the second period as the Lynx-Eagles girls hockey team tallied seven goals in the middle period. Miryea Herman, Taral Clayton, Tami Suenram, and Muller each added two goals in the contest. Dimond-West's Isabella Sellers blocked all 11 shots on goal, and the team took 33 shots throughout the game. Final: Service-East 6, South-Bartlett 2 Service-East used a two player scoring attack to put away South-Bartlett in the night-cap at the Ben Boeke Ice Arena on Wednesday night. Kerianne Hansen and Bria Lindsoe racked up two goals each to put the Cougars-Thunderbirds up 4-1, early in the third. South-Bartlett would show signs of life with goals from Morgan Newhouse and Melanie Bartenstein late in the second and third periods, but wouldn't be able to put the game within a goal's reach. For Service-East, Felila Manu notched two assists and the game's final goal to end the night with three points. Service-East will square away with Dimond-West in Friday night's championship contest. |
