East, Eagle River Upset Two of Conference's Best

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--

FINAL (boys basketball): East 66, Service 64

East Anchorage's Jarred Laws nailed a buzzer-beater from beyond the arc to help push the Thunderbirds past the first place Service Cougars.

FINAL (boys basketball): Eagle River 60, Dimond 49

Eagle River outscored the Lynx 22-13 in the fourth quarter. Hunter Hill, Eric Roberts and Thomas Jones score 14 points each in the win.

Dimond's Damon Cikanek tallied 12 points in the loss. He shot 2 of 14 from the field.

The Wolves have now won three straight contests. The loss for Dimond is only their second in-conference.

FINAL (boys basketball): South 63, Bartlett 61 (OT)

The Wolverines needed clutch points in overtime to help push past the Golden Bears of Bartlett. Louis Page dropped 17 points, and Jack Hobbs accounted for 24--to lead all scorers in the win.

FINAL (boys basketball): West 59, Chugiak 45

DeAndre Wilson added 16 points in the Eagles win; While Chugiak's Payton Fullmer shoots for 25 points in the loss.

FINAL (girls basketball): West 47, Chugiak 40

 

West High jumped out to a 9-2 lead to start the game, but the Eagles coughed up 24 turnovers in the first half and went to the locker room only up by 6.

CeCe Cockerham and Chanel Bookert tallied 9 and 17 points, respectively. Bookert finished the night with a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds).

 

FINAL (girls basketball): Dimond 88, Eagle River 20

Sierra Afoa led all scorers for Dimond with 24 points. Karenna Liggon added in 16, and Kaylyn Haywood had 18 points to steamroll the Wolves.

Dimond didn't allow a single bucket in the second period, and they entered halftime with a 55-11 lead.
