South Blanks Eagle River (Tuesday Hockey)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--The West meets East rivalry is typically one of the oldest in any city. Anchorage is no different.

Tuesday's match-up paired two teams more than halfway down the Cook Inlet Conference standings, but only two points separated them.

The Thunderbirds lone goal came in the first period by Tristan Phillips on the power-play. Justin Beverlin grabbed the assist on the play.

For the remainder of the game--it was all Eagles.

All six goals scored were by different members of the team.

Codie Cope and Garen Teders each added a goal in the first period. Cope's goal came as the Eagles were short-handed due to a check from behind penalty.

The Eagles then added four more goals in the second period. Alex Bardsley and Ryder Schwamm both lit the lamp almost two minutes apart from each other.

Justin Heil and Dawson Ellingsworth each tallied a goal later in the same period to put West up, 6-1.

South High is fresh off their big win against the then undefeated Dimond Lynx. They'd score early and often in Tuesday's contest against Eagle River.

Steven Orizotti grabbed the game's first goal, and the Wolverines would score 8 more before all was said and done. They'd win 9-0. The shut-out marks the fifth time goalie Nathan Wright has kept his opponents scoreless between the bars.
