Special Olympics Alaska Celebrates Opening Ceremonies

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--You could say it's been a busy week for Special Olympics Alaska.

Last Monday, the organization celebrated a ground-breaking ceremony for the new $10 million athletic training facility to be completed in February 2014.

Now, Special Olympics Alaska welcomes the best athletes from across the state to the Summer Games.

The annual event features 400 athletes, coaches and volunteers--as all participants focus on fun, the spirit of competition and healthy living.

This year's Summer Games features basketball, powerlifting, gymnastics, aquatics and track events.
