ANCHORAGE, Alaska--Teams participating in this year's 33rd Annual Service Cougar Tip-Off tournament that played in last year's state playoffs looked like they never missed a beat.

Monroe Catholic and Service both pushed past their opponents--winning 44 to 14, and 83 to 29, respectively.

Monroe Catholic 44, Houston 14

The Rams had a balanced scoring attack in their first game of the season. Jalon McCullough poured in 11 points, while Scooter Bynum added 13.

Houston didn't score a single point in the third quarter, and was down 32 to 7 going into the 4th quarter.

Monroe managed only 44 points in the low-scoring contest, but was able to consistently put 10 to 12 points on the board each quarter.

Eagle River 65, Ketchikan 52

In the Wolves first game of the season--the team relied on a heavy scoring attack in the first half to push by Colony High. In Thursday's match against Ketchikan, they'd do the opposite.

Eagle River would score 43 points in the second half due in part to Shaquan Rhoades.

Rhoades went 8 for 11 from the free-throw line, and scored 24 points in the game. 

The Wolves had two other players in double-digit point totals on Thursday--Seniors Eric Roberts and Hunter Hill posted 11 and 10, respectively.

Eagle River will play last year's 3A State Champions, the Monroe Catholic Rams for Friday's semi-final match at 6pm.

Service 83, Seward 29

Offensively, every member of the Service Cougar team scored at least one point on Thursday. Three players posted over the double-digit mark, and seven players had more than 8 points.

Adam Klie scored all 14 of his points in the first half.

The Cougars sport a few football players on the basketball roster. Notably tonight, Irho Raguindin spotted 12 on the board throughout the game. Amu Auksuitino added eight points courtesy of two long balls; and C.J. Toomer scored all eight of his points in the 2nd quarter.

Service spotted 54 points in the first half alone. The only other team to score more points in their entire game was Eagle River (with 65).

Service will take on Palmer on Friday at 7:30pm.
