FAIRBANKS- Alaska State Troopers say one person is dead following a two-vehicle collision Monday in Fairbanks.

Spokeswoman Megan Peters says troopers are working on identifying the victim and notifying the next-of-kin.

The accident happened just before 1 p.m. involving a pickup and sport-utility vehicle. There was one driver in each of the vehicles, and troopers say the other driver appears to be unhurt.

A section of Badger Road is closed Monday afternoon between Lakoey and Riverview drives while troopers investigate.

Troopers advise people to drive with caution in the Fairbanks area because of winter driving conditions. Peters says troopers have been responding to numerous collisions.
