Troopers say 2 men have drowned in Lake Louise located near Susitna Lake in the Matanuska- Susitna Borough. They were visiting from out-of-state and their names or ages will not been released until their family is notified.
Trooper Dispatch got the call around 12:13 p.m. this afternoon. Trooper spokesperson, Tim DeSpain, says the men were in a 14 ft. rented boat and at some point one of the men went to restart the motor while it was already in gear. The boat moved forward and one of the men fell in the water. DeSpain says the boat began to circle around with the other man still inside, and he ended up in the water as well. They were not wearing life jackets, however, they were provided and had been in the boat. Another boat came to assist the men and those on board called the Lake Lodge Owner for help. DeSpain says it's unclear how or who brought the men to shore. Lake Louise Fire Emergency Medical Services attempted CPR on the men but were unsuccessful. They were declared dead at the scene. LifeMed and Troopers also responded to the incident. |
