An estimated 13-percent of Alaskans are living with diabetes and of that number,  Nearly 52-thousand are diagnosed with type 2.

That number is growing the Center for Disease Control estimates that by the year 2050 nearly 1 in 3 Americans could have the disease.

Melonee Long was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Finding out meant she was in for some lifestyle changes.
