A look inside ASD's ELL program

by Jessica Gruenling

ANCHORAGE, Ak--   According to a recent studym for the first time US public schools are projected to have more minority students than non-hispanic whites.

The Anchorage School District is one that also sees this trend.

The English Language Learners Program teaches english as a second language, and other academic means to students who come from homes in which a language other than english is spoken.

Currently there are close to 6,000 students in the district speaking 93 different languages.

What is going on in our state? How come do we have this many students speaking 93 different languages in our school district? Does this mean Parnell, our Legislature and the Catholic social services Susan Bomalaski opened up our borders? Like the 5 shipped to Fairbanks. who going to pay for this? When every bleeding heart in our state is trying to shut down our oil, mining and timber. How much money is the U.S. Government giving the state to do this.
