Nixel is a free online push notification system customized by users.

It's their new system for sending out alerts, traffic diversions and community news" Nixel allows us to communicate directly with the public," said APD Public information officer, Dani Myren.

Some Anchorage residents have not signed up yet, but say they like the idea of how nixel can fit into their daily routine.
