ASD Formally Appoints Graff Anchorage Schools Superintendent

by Whitney LB Miller

ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage school board formally accepted the resignation of current superintendent Dr. Jim Browder Monday night before approving Ed Graff, former chief academic officer, to take over.

At the meeting school board president, Jeannie Mackie credited Dr. Browder for his service during his time with the district.

Browder had been with the district for eight months before retiring due to a family medical emergency.

After being appointed Graff addressed the board and those in attendance stating his intent and plans for his new role.

"i do realize the magnitude of the responsibility the role i will play is to ensure that we focus on all of our students collectively and still meet the needs of everyone individually," Graff said. " A balance that is challenging but we deserve to give to our students."
