ANCHORAGE- About 1,200 state employees were sent home Monday after fire suppression equipment was accidentally set off at a downtown Anchorage building.

The workers at the 20-story Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage were sent home about noon, and told to report to work Tuesday.
State Department of Administration spokesman Andy Mills says a plumber accidentally set off the fire suppression equipment, which released a foam. The building was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Mills says the workers will be paid for Monday.
