The Eighth annual Taste of Mardi Gras fundraiser will be held Friday evening on 4th avenue, between G and H street. It is said to be an old fashion block party complete with live music, street performers, food tasting, and wine garden. The fundraiser began eight years ago as a way to raise money for the victims of hurricane Katrina. Now the money raised this year will stay here in Alaska to help with local relief efforts. "it will be a great time for people to unwind for a short week, but I look forward to seeing everyone enjoying themselves." said Katie Bender, American Red Cross, Director of Development and Marketing. Break Down of events: -Cajun Cuisine Tasting (5-7pm) -Live Music: The Rebel Blues & Nervis Rex -Street Performers -Beer and Wine Garden |
