NOME- A recent ground penetrating analysis of the Nome cemetery has found nearly 100 unmarked graves.

The work was being done as part of an expansion project for the cemetery that will eventually added space for 3,500 plots.
City officials say the new data will help volunteers locate and mark the newly found 96 burial sites.
There's no city office that oversees the cemetery, and documentation of burials was haphazard over the years.
Volunteers are now behind the effort to clean up the cemetery, mark known graves and help the city council with expansion plans.
