ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police fatally shoot 25-year-old Carl Richard Bowie, III, after a chase.

The police department says Bowie rammed at least one vehicle with a stolen pickup. At least two cruisers were rammed.

The shooting occurred at 53rd Avenue and Windflower Street, near Dowling Road.

Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew says the man escaped from a halfway house, and had stolen a pickup in southwest Anchorage.

Police got calls about a suspicious man looking inside windows of cars at the Dimond Center mall parking lot. Police found the vehicle near 88th and Lake Otis, and a chase ensued through neighborhoods. Mew says two officers were involved in the shooting.

A female passenger wasn't injured. No other information was immediately available.
