Anchorage Police Seek Suspects in Two Separate Robberies
Authorities investigate home invasion and Subway sandwich shop robbery.
ANCHORAGE - Police are investigating to armed robberies in Anchorage and are asking the public to help in identifying the suspect.
Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m. police responded to a home invasion on the 1400 block of East 12th Avenue. The victim was robbed just before midnight Tuesday after responding to a male knocking on his door asking to use his phone. The suspect reportedly rushed into the home with a handgun and when the victim retrieved his own handgun, it was taken by the suspect.
The intruder reportedly struck the victim on the head with a handgun and stole a phone, a small amount of cash and the homeowner's own handgun.
Police are looking for a hispanic male in his late 20's, approximately 5'8" to 5'9" weighing 180-190 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and tan colored pants.
Across town, police say a Subway sandwhich shop located at 6110 Old Seward Highway was robbed.
Police say around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning a man walked in demanding cash from the cashier. The employee complied and handed the man cash from the till.
The suspect fled on foot in a westerly direction. Police say there were 3 employees in the restaurant and no customers at the time. No one was injured.
Police are looking for a Hispanic male in his 20's about 5'6" weighing 185 pounds. He was wearing a dark beanie, a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, tennis shoes and had pulled black t-shirt over his face.
