ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have arrested a man suspected in what police describe as a drug-related shooting.
Reports say police arrested 23-year-old Sabre Pearl and charged him with assault and weapons misconduct. He is a suspect in the shooting of 31-year-old Eric Hammon on Tuesday. Hammon was shot several times in a west Anchorage apartment and remains in critical condition.
Police say the shooting occurred after Pearl and his girlfriend, Marissa Quimby-Hayes, went to the apartment to sell another person methamphetamine. Police say an argument ensued and Hammon was shot.

I completely agree!! I have tried and tried to get Eric to come back home so I could try and help him with treatment - however home wouldn't be the best spot for him. We have several programs here to help offenders get clean if they wish to do so. it don't always work, but the percent of people it does work on are less people you have to worry about. Give them a chance! How do they get clean if they don't even have the means or know how - to even get the help!!!! Give them the opportunity and a few may take it. I pray for my cousin Eric Hammon everyday and will always love him dearly. I am here to help him fight this battle, as I too have faught the battle of addiction - coming up on 4 years clean now I know it aint easy. I love you Eric Hammon. I hope you see this one day as I know longer know how to get ahold of you. You are in my prayers. I work in a treatment center now and hope to be able to help you one day Love always, your cousin Melinda Jensen

The real CRIME here is the methlabs. I haven't heard one word this month about a meth lab bust or rehab for meth addicts in Anchorage. You want to change our State, offer a process. We have spent Millions on sidewalk laws and NOTHING on the METH problem in Alaska. Shame on you Mayor Sullivan!
