Appeals Filed in 3 Federal Court Rulings
Rulings in three federal court cases are being appealed by different parties including the state.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska- Rulings in three federal court cases are being appealed by different parties including the state.
Two of the appeals are from longtime Alaskans Jim Wilde of Central and John Sturgeon of Anchorage.
The two, who lost cases, are questioning the federal government's clout on state owned lands in national parks and preserves. Wilde's case was a criminal matter stemming from a run-in with park rangers.
The state, which intervened in Sturgeon's case, also is appealing a decision by a U.S. District Court judge over the same issue.
Senior assistant attorney general Anne Nelson says she expects the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to consolidate the state's case with Sturgeon's case. Wilde's appeal is also expected to be joined with the cases.
