August was Fourth-Wettest Ever in Kodiak
It's been a very wet summer for Kodiak.
KODIAK- You expect Kodiak to be wet. Just not this wet.
August was the fourth wettest on record. The 9.3 inches of rain that fell last month tied August 1964 for fourth on the list. The record remains August 1977, when 11.13 inches of rain fell.
The rains came after an unusually hot and dry June and July. National Weather Service officials say June was the warmest on record since 1953. In July, there were 10 straight days of temperatures over 70 degrees and only one inch of rain the entire month.
