The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is looking at reclassifying and amending their management plan for the Bristol Bay area. The move keeps the state out of court regarding management of the area.

litagation was filed in 2009  by a number of groups unhappy over a 2005 revision of the plan
The plan covers 12.6 million acres of state lands and 6 million acres of submerged lands and tidelands.
 

The 2005 update was making changes to the original 1984 plan which was issued before conveyance of many state lands and also before the formation of boroughs. DNR was able to have the case dismissed by agreeing to address some of the errors found in the plan and considering other issues raised buy the plantiffs.
