Chugach Electric Increasing Crews To Restore Power

Utility Urges Patience

With thousands of Chugach Electric Association Members still out of power after this weeks windstorm, the utility is asking for patience from those still in the dark.

A majority of the power lines that Chugach services are off the main road system. Crews are walking through brush and wooded areas to find and fix the problems.

Currently eighteen crews of four have been rotating around the clock to get things repaired. Four more contract crews have just arrived from the Mat-Su and three more are on the way from Fairbanks.

Long time Chugach employees don't remember seeing a storm like this since the 1980's.

The Utility is hoping to have power to all customers in 3 to 5 days.

If you are still without power and have not already notified Chugach Electric, please call the power outage line at 762-7888. Be prepared to give your service address and phone number.
