ANCHORAGE, AK- The port of anchorage serves over 200 towns and villages and is responsible for 90% of consumer goods sitting on grocery shelves.
The project for the port of anchorage, formally headed by the Department of Transportation Maritime Administration, was slated to be a multi- year project that would update deteriorating facilities and expand port capacities.
he municipality of anchorage gave the Maritime Administration an advance of more than 300 million to fund the project and according to Mayor Dan Sullivan, the Maritime Administration has done less than a sub-par job.
"They were responsible for managing the project including supervising the contractors, setting time lines, bench marks, quality control, quality assurance, and quite frankly, the Inspector Generals Report that came out a few weeks ago, failed in just about everyone of those categories," said Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan.
CH2MHILL will now head the project for the port of anchorage.
The new project plan will feature a traditional pier type of port and c-h-2-m-hill will begin work immediately.
