Construction academy soldiers graduate Helmets to Hardhats

by Whitney LB Miller

ANCHORAGE - A program that is helping to transition Alaska's soldiers into the construction work force celebrates it's graduation.

To commemorate the Helmets to Hardhats commencement, Alaska Industrial Hardware donated a picnic to the graduates.

Along with their certificates of completion, the tool manufacturer, Dewalt handed out special gifts for the men and women.

"Our hope for the men and women that are taking this course is that they will transition successfully back into civilian life," said Terry Shurtleff of Alaska Industrial Hardware. "For selfish reasons I hope they transition into the construction industry in Alaska because we'd like to see them in our stores."

Fridays graduating class of the Helmets to Hardhats program was the last for the season.
