Cook Inlet Region Oil & Gas Production "Rebounding"

ANCHORAGE-A new study released by Northern economics reveals Cook Inlet oil and gas keep costs down for Anchorage Residents. According to the study, the region is producing about half as much today as it was in 2005.

Causing around 40 percent of Alaskans surveyed to saythey want more energy security. "Anything you can pay for energy is better than not having it when you need it," said JR Wilcox, Chair of the Anchorage chamber's energy subcommittee.

Specialist say Alaskans will continue using gas because of relative low cost.

Wilcox says if production can not keep up with supply and demand, some Alaskans would see and increase between 58 and 67 percent on their energy bills.

Wilcox says the Cook Inlet is a rebounding region and there is plenty of il and gas still available.
