Duct Tape Ball 2013ANCHORAGE - Saturday (2/23) the Duct Tape Ball celebrated its 14th year with a 'board game' themed bash to raise money for local charities.
The venue was decorated with elaborate and impressive duct tape designs that included a 16-ft Mr. Potato Head. Guests dressed in duct tape designs to bid in silent and live auctions. "The Duct Tape Ball has been around for the past 15 years," said Nance Larson, volunteer and board member. "We actually started as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics World Winter Games when they were in Anchorage many years ago. We focus on raising money for foundations or organizations that specialize in programs that impact women and children but sometimes other programs as well." All the money raised at the Duct Tape Ball goes to the nominated charities. This year the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska, Equine Assisted Therapy Alaska and the Anchorage Neighbourhood Health Center benefited from the proceeds. |
