Eighth annual children's book drive

 ANCHORAGE, Ak-- thread is holding its eighth annual children's book drive.

 thread is an organization that stresses the importance of of reading at an early age, and this drive helps provide children with the books they need to learn.     
Beginning July 1st through the 31st new and gently used books can be dropped off at all Fred Meyers locations, four Credit Union 1 branches, and the JBER Consolidated Library. 
"Research is very clear that when kids are read to it's bonding between parents and kids, but it also gets their minds working and it gets them reading at an early age. We all know that reading is important to success in school," Senator Bill Wielechowski, (D) Anchorage.
The books will be distributed to children at the book party on August 14th.
This will be held at the Garden Art Park in Mountain View. 
Any left over books will be given to shelters around Anchorage.
