BETHEL- A canine support group in Bethel is more than halfway to its funding goal for a no-kill shelter.

The Bethel Friends of Canines has raised $4,600 though a funding website. The goal is $7,500.
The shelter would be a 32-foot by 24-foot building near the home of member Joan Dewey.
The city currently holds animals for four days before euthanizing them if not picked up. The group says a shelter would give them more time to find dogs good homes.
