A group has purchased several lots in East Anchorage with the intent of housing veterans, especially those who are currently homeless.

Reports say Anchorage NeighborWorks has purchased the five lots in the city's Muldoon neighborhood, including a five-plex. Crews are hard at work renovating the building.

Doug Lamkin with the nonprofit organization says the building will be primarily offered to veterans with families.

The group plans to build two additional housing units at the site they call "Patriot Square." The intent is ultimately to have 23 units.
