ANCHORAGE - The start of October means Halloween is just around corner. You may be trick-or-treating with the kids or just staying home and throwing your own shin dig, but either way, having the perfect costume can either make or break your holiday plans.

Nowadays, Halloween is geared more and more toward adults rather than the kids.

"I kind of tend to hear that a lot of adults are more excited about Halloween and I think the kids get more excited about the candy," said Kristen James who was shopping at Party World in Anchorage.

The store's staff say when it comes to dressing up, grown ups are opting to go all out instead of sticking with traditional.

"The trends change from year to year," said Paul Godwin, manager of Party World.  "This year we're seeing a lot of zombies."

The magic maybe stretching further than the outrageous clothes, Party World says some costumes can even determine the winner of the presidential election.

"The theory is that whichever costume we sell the most of -- Democrat or Republican -- is who wins," said Godwin.  "I've been here three elections and it holds true."

Come November that theory is sure to be tested, but according to Godwin, Mitt Romney is currently in the lead.
